What you're lookin' at here started in early Spring in the pitch black Earth.  My work is with the Earth -- tilling, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting.

What you'll see here is Holly's part. It's so warm in that kitchen when the canning commences I'm happy enough to be out working the garden again.

I see what's not here.  All of the tomato plants -- some forty in all -- are different in species, sizes, shapes and general health. I didn't name them ar anything like that but there is a familiarity I share with these ripened fruit.

Actually, I did name the garden "Doug" because after it was tilled a heavy rain came and it had to be dug all over again.  The other garden out back is Doug II.

When we've had our fill of  tomatoes, and all of the canning jars have been topped off, we break out the dehydrator to put back what's ready and waiting .

And there is more in the garden turning red in the sun at this moment.  The Earth is abundant.

It's amazing, looking at this picture, and ponder the hot, backbreaking labor -- fighting weeds, fire ants, aphids, and a variety of worms and grasshoppers -- to see it all here in such simple beauty.
